Privacy policy
Summary. This policy describes how Cachesphere treats information in connection with this website and related services. It is not personalised legal advice. If you need terms for a specific company or jurisdiction, have them reviewed by qualified counsel.
Who we are
“Cachesphere,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Cachesphere website and related offerings (including any hosted API or subscription services we may provide). For privacy questions, contact support@cachesphere.com.
What Cachesphere is
Cachesphere provides plain-English programming language guides, an interactive catalogue (including machine-readable data such as JSON), comparison tools, and optional paid plans. You can use much of the catalogue without creating an account.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Communications. If you email us (for example, sales or support), we receive the contents of your message and your email address.
- Payments. If you purchase a paid plan, payment information is collected and processed by Stripe. We do not receive your full card number. We may receive billing-related metadata (such as customer email, subscription status, and transaction identifiers) through Stripe and our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Server and infrastructure logs. When you use the site or API, our hosting provider, CDN, or servers may log technical data such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, user agent, request path, timestamps, and HTTP referrer. We use this for security, reliability, debugging, and aggregate analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Core catalogue pages do not require login and do not rely on advertising cookies by default. Stripe Checkout and other third-party services may set cookies or use local storage on their own domains when you interact with them. Your browser may also store ordinary site assets in cache.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and services;
- Process payments and communicate about billing or your account (if applicable);
- Respond to support requests and enforce our terms;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly understood under U.S. state privacy laws.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data where necessary to perform a contract with you, where we have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights (for example, securing our services), or where you have given consent where required.
Sharing of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who assist us (for example, hosting, payment processing, email). They are contractually or legally obligated to use data only as we direct, subject to their own policies where applicable.
- Stripe for payment processing. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Public repositories or self-hosted copies of our open-source software are separate deployments; this policy applies to services we operate at our domains unless we say otherwise.
International transfers
We may process data in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and security requirements. Technical logs are typically retained for a limited period unless longer retention is needed to investigate abuse or satisfy legal process.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact support@cachesphere.com. We may need to verify your request.
California residents. California law may grant additional rights (including knowing categories of personal information collected, requesting deletion subject to exceptions, and opting out of “sale” or “sharing” as defined under California law). We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, use the email above.
Children
Cachesphere is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Third-party sites
Our guides link to external documentation, playgrounds, and other sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate (for example, by email if we have your address).
